The TWC Racing Team has made history – after three years of determination, our crew and driver finally powered the 4Runner across the Vegas to Reno finish line for the very first time!
Leading the charge was Race Team President Kent Jones, supported by an all-star crew – Price Dhaliwal, Glen Molina, Nahid Hasan, Gustavo Garcia, Scott & Christie Kerrigan – who kept the team moving forward every mile of the way.
This year’s course stretched nearly 200 miles across Nevada’s desert terrain, where daytime temperatures soared above 110 degrees. Our driver, Trent Roberts, piloted the 4Runner off the starting line just outside Las Vegas, charging toward the finish in Tonopah. But the road wasn’t easy. At just mile 8, the 4Runner began overheating, forcing the crew to get creative. Buckets of cold water over the radiator, constant monitoring of the temperature gauge, and strategic cooling breaks at every pit stop turned the race into a true test of grit and teamwork.
As Kent recalled:
“Finally, the pit crew got to the finish line and waited with fingers crossed that the truck would get there before the engine blew. We were in radio contact with Trent and he thought he could make it to the finish line. What an incredible feeling when we heard the 4Runner coming out of the desert and over the hill towards us! The checkered flag flew as he crossed the line and we had finished the race!!”
That moment was pure triumph. Out of nearly 350 vehicles entered in the event, about one-third didn’t make it to the finish. For TWC Racing, crossing that line in their third year of competition was nothing short of historic.
Finishing this race is a major breakthrough for the team. With so many competitors falling short, reaching the checkered flag validates three years of persistence and problem-solving. It also gives the crew a stronger foundation for the future – real race data, confidence under pressure, and proof that TWC Racing belongs in the desert.
What’s Next?
The team is already shifting gears and preparing the truck for the next big challenge – King of the Hammers in January 2026, one of the toughest and most legendary off-road events in the world.
Before then, we’ll take time to celebrate this milestone together. A celebratory luncheon will be announced soon so we can all recognize the crew’s achievement and cheer on TWC Racing in person.
Congratulations again to Kent, Trent, and the entire crew for proving what TWC spirit looks like under pressure. This finish is just the start, and we can’t wait to see where the road – and the desert – takes TWC Racing next.
